Dr Robin Cordell

Chair and Co-Founder

As Chair of Cordell Health, I have overall responsibility for leading the Board in ensuring effective governance and maintenance of the values of the social enterprise.

I am an accredited specialist in Occupational Medicine, and am a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FFOM) as well as being an elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). I have over 30 years’ experience advising organisations on health and healthcare policy, and delivering healthcare services in the NHS and the Armed Forces.

I am passionate about standards in occupational health and was appointed by the FOM as the lead for the 2023 Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) standards review. I am actively involved in the national health and work agenda, as a director of the Council for Work and Health, in training and examining for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.

I have long experience of public service, in the NHS and the Defence Medical Services, and still live by their values. Having the courage to do and say the right thing, not the easy thing, remains important in our engagement with clients and in ensuring the objectivity and impartiality of the reports we write on our clients’ employees.

We seek regular feedback from managers and HR, and also from those employees, to ensure those we see feel they have been listened to and treated with respect. I remain committed to delivering the best service we can, including “going the extra mile” when we need to do so.

I am proud to serve in a high performing team of professionals, committed to excellence in occupational health service delivery to our broad range of clients and their employees.

I have a keen interest in developing the evidence base within occupational health and wellbeing through workplace based research. I also support education and learning as the educational supervisor for our 5 specialist registrar posts in addition to examining for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.

My experience in the military taught me to think outside the box. My strategy as result of experience to date, is to invest in research to understand what really works to support health and wellbeing in the workplace. With this knowledge we harness the power of technology and train quality staff to enable the workplace to support the health and wellbeing of all staff.

Being a Social Enterprise driven by a Social Mission is very important to me. As an organisation, I want us to not be focused on profit but instead make a positive difference in workplace health and wellbeing for all.
